Yellow yellow

Yellow yellow is a book that focuses on the issues faced by a young girl of Nigerian and Greek parentage. The circumstances of her birth left her mother humiliated; and being poor, she had to work hard on a small piece of farmland to fend for herself and her daughter. The Greek sailor whom she had hoped would marry her left the shores
of Port Harcourt without so  much as a goodbye note.

Zilayefa, her daughter is the major character and she is most often called Yellow yellow due to the light tone of her skin. She, also had experiences similar to her mother's. Aside from the issues of femininity,  sexuality, abortion etc which Zilayefa experienced as an individual, other general issues facing most Nigerians, economic issues were also highlighted such as Niger Delta oil issues, Scarcity of fuel and corruption.

Kaine Agary, the author of Yellow yellow, grew up in Port Harcourt, Nigeria. By writing this book, she exposed to Nigerians (and the world) who were ignorant, the issues faced in the Niger Delta region.
